Since joining the firm in 2001 as a partner, Kevin Liles has significantly fueled the Corpus Christi office through verdicts and settlements for his clients in a variety of cases ranging from products liability cases, commercial business litigation, and workplace negligence suits. As one of the most senior partners in the Corpus Christi office, Mr. Liles has taken a lead in representing clients throughout South Texas, Mexico, and the states across the southern United States. Raised in the west-Texas town of Abilene, Mr. Liles earned his Bachelor of Science in 1993 from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, majoring in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, business, and marketing. In 1997, Mr. Liles received a Juris Doctorate degree from Baylor Law School in Waco, after serving as Editor-in-Chief of the Baylor Law Review and receiving numerous other advocacy and scholarly honors.
Following law school, Mr. Liles independently handled several litigation dockets for over four years as an Associate with Fulbright & Jaworski, L.L.P. in Houston, Texas, representing both plaintiffs’ and defendants’ interests. In 2001, Mr. Liles partnered with Mikal Watts, and turned his aggressive advocacy toward automotive product liability litigation and oil field negligence. Since 2001, Mr. Liles served as lead trial counsel in multiple auto product liability and personal injury cases involving defective tires, airbags, vehicle rollovers, occupant restraints, fuel system integrity leading to post collision fuel-fed fires, seat designs, and seatbelt buckles. Those cases resulted in significant verdicts and settlement for his clients. Some notable trial efforts and verdicts include Rupp v. Sulzer Orthopedics, Inc., Shirley Thomas v. Bourda Construction, Inc., yielding an award of actual and punitive damages, Alfonso Gonzalez v. Ford Motor Company, Johnson Broadcasting, Inc. v. Conus Communications Company a complex commercial case, among numerous others.
Mr. Liles often speaks at continuing legal education seminars on various litigation topics including product liability topics in Las Vegas and Advanced Civil Litigation topics in Houston, among many others. Mr. Liles is an “AV” rated lawyer in the Martindale-Hubbell legal directory. Mr. Liles is licensed to practice law in the state courts of Texas and Arizona, and in all the United States District Courts in the Districts of Texas and the Districts in Arizona, before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and for the Ninth Circuit, and before the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), American Association of Justice (AAJ), Attorneys Information Exchange Group (AIEG), Bar Associations of Texas and Arizona, Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA), Corpus Christi Bar Association (CCBA), and Corpus Christi Young Lawyers Association (CCYLA – President 2003-04, recognized Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year 2005-06), and Million Dollar Advocates Forum. He also serves his local community as Board Member of the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA - President 2006-07). In 2005, Mr. Liles was Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. |
