Some attorneys are great legal thinkers, some are great trial lawyers and some possess great people skills. Gregory Gowan, however, has mastered all three qualities. He is well-rounded, compassionate, trustworthy and a great trial lawyer. I trust him implicitly.

Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, Gregory L. Gowan earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Texas A&M University at College Station in 1993. He earned his law degree in 1995 from Texas Tech School of Law. While at Texas Tech, Gregory served as Associate Editor of the Texas Tech Law Review and vice-chair of the Board of Barristers. He was the 1995 Champion of both the Advanced Mock Trial and Advanced Moot Court Competitions, including awards for Best Oralist and Best Brief. In addition, he received the “TOP GUN” award for accumulating the most points “ever” in mock trial and moot court competitions, having reached the finals in four of the six competitions.
After graduating from law school, Mr. Gowan joined the firm of Meredith, Donnell & Abernethy in Corpus Christi, Texas, practicing defense of maritime cases, catastrophic personal injury cases and commercial litigation cases. In 1996, Gregory started his own practice which developed into the litigation firm of Williams, Kasperitis & Gowan, P.C. As a founding partner of the firm, he handled a wide variety of civil matters, including personal injury, wrongful death, product liability, commercial and maritime cases, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. His firm won a landmark verdict against Humana, Inc. in 2000.
Gregory joined the predecessor firm of Watts Guerra Craft LLP in 2002, focusing his representation of plaintiffs in a wide variety of civil matters, including personal injury, wrongful death, product liability, complex commercial litigation, construction-related litigation and tractor-trailer collision litigation. In April 2003, Mr. Gowan joined his partner Mikal Watts in obtaining the largest verdict in the history of Nueces County in Knight v. DePena, a record that stands to this day. Gregory has had the experience and privilege of trying numerous cases with Mikal Watts. Gregory has been very successful in representing catastrophically injured persons in various states.
Gregory is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He has been recognized as a “Texas Rising Star” in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Mr. Gowan has written numerous articles and continues to write articles for presentation at continuing legal education seminars. Mr. Gowan is a member of the State Bars of Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA), the Christian Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA), the Attorneys’ Information Exchange Group (AIEG), Corpus Christi Bar Association (CCBA) and the Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas. He is licensed to practice law in the state courts of Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma, in the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, Western and Northern Districts of Texas, and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and Sixth Circuits, as well as the Supreme Court of the United States. |
