David Bright earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas in 1983 and graduated from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 1986, where he served as Associate Editor of the St. Mary’s Law Review, was a member of the State Moot Court Team, and won the Norvell Moot Court Competition, both as Outstanding Oral Advocate and Best Brief award. In 1986, David was inducted into the national advocacy honorary group of Order of Barristers. Before becoming a partner in the predecessor firm of Watts Guerra Craft LLP Mr. Bright was a partner in the civil litigation law firm of Sorrell, Anderson, Lehrman, Bright & Maixner and the personal injury law firm of Wyatt, Wyatt, Bright & Cowley, handling a wide variety of civil matters, including personal injury, wrongful death, product liability, commercial trucking, professional liability, insurance bad faith, libel and slander, employment, civil rights, commercial and construction-related litigation and appeals.

In 1999, Mr. Bright became Of Counsel to Harris & Watts and later Watts & Heard, continuing his representation of plaintiffs in personal injury, product liability, commercial trucking, class action, and complex civil litigation, and he joined the predecessor firm of Watts Guerra Craft LLP in 2002. Mr. Bright is licensed to practice law in the state courts of Texas, before the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas, before the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Seventh Circuits, before the United States Court of International Trade, and before the United States Supreme Court He handles cases across the United States. Mr. Bright is an “AV” rated lawyer in the Martindale-Hubbell legal directory, the highest peer-based rating available for professional ability and integrity.

David is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), American Association for Justice (AAJ), Attorneys Information Exchange Group (AIEG), Texas Bar Association, Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA), Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas, Corpus Christi Bar Association, and is a charter member of the Reynaldo G. Garza American Inn of Court. Mr. Bright has served as President of the Corpus Christi Bar Association and Chairman of the State Bar of Texas District 11-A Grievance Committee. He currently serves as Co-chairman of the Corpus Christi Bar Association’s Continuing Legal Education Committee, and as Course Director of its annual Advanced Civil Trial Law Seminar. He serves as Chairman of the Helmet Litigation Subgroup of the Attorneys Information Exchange Group. Mr. Bright is a frequent author and lecturer for the American Association for Justice (AAJ), Attorneys Information Exchange Group (AIEG), State Bar of Texas, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA), and the Corpus Christi Bar Association.

He is the recipient of the Judge Paul W. Nye Professionalism Award, a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, and has been repeatedly selected as a “Super Lawyer” by Texas Monthly Magazine. David is a frequent lecturer on litigation and trial tactics and has achieved outstanding verdicts and settlements for his clients.
